Hello Prime Minister,
Over the last few months I’ve been reading websites about Peak Oil and
seeing documentaries like “End of Suburbia” and reading about
Representative Bartlet from the United States. [

What I’ve read concerns me greatly. Since Canada is even more worse
off in terms of wasting energy, the #1 per capita user of energy in
the world in fact, what is Canada’s stand on Peak Oil? Where are our
leaders?
I would like to encourage your government to do more to reduce our
energy dependencies. If the United States is contemplating a
“Manhattan Project” style solution, what about Canada?

At present there is no national program that I have seen or heard about ready to deal with Peak Oil. There is no national program or energy consumption or investment in railways etc. Current government statistics are not based on current information and point to Peak Oil at 2030. A date that no expert I have read agrees with.
This will be the most pressing issue of our age, as the oil hits it’s production peak at 50% we will be increasingly unable to travel at current rates or feed ourselves as simple demand outsrips supply.
Many oil industry experts and geologists point to a 5-10 year window now, so we need to get started and start talking publically about this issue of when we hit the 50% mark on oil production. As demand continues we hit a oil-shock, effectively putting the world into a recession or depression since all our economies rely on growth to function.
