April 13, 2006 : Hydo hike shocks consumers

Don’t wait for government action

As gas and oil continues to dwindle worldwide and the prices continue
to rise, so will our power consumption rates. Why is this a surprise?
Oil is at $70 and could top $100 this year. Iran gitters not
included yet in the system either.

Here’s just one idea. Start banning the incandescant light bulb and
replace with compact fluorescent bulbs, if not by government then in
your own mind and lifestyle. This cuts their power consumption from
60-80%. It’s quick and simple to do. It’s incredible that we can’t
even bother ourselves to change a light bulb or turn anything off.
Then we wonder why our bills are high! Weird. They’re already in the
store now for just a little bit more, but can cut your yearly costs
dramatically. They will now pay for themselves in 4 months and last
for years more. Save your money.

It’s not going to get any better, but solutions exists, many more of
them, if you look for them. Why wait for governments to do it for
you?
